STRIKE Boxing is a premium boxing and Muay Thai (kickboxing) fitness training program enabling all sections of society to gain the physical training benefits of combat sport fitness training. Delivered in both group fitness Class Program and Personal Training formats; STRIKE aims to take boxing fitness back to the origins of its boxing training concepts, emphasising the practical side of boxing training.

STRIKE classes are open to all levels of fitness and offer much fun and variety to complement your health and wellness regime. Classes are primarily done with a partner whom the instructor will assign to you if you don’t already have one.

  History of Boxing  
     
  Despite the emerging popularity of alternative forms of combat sport boxing remains the most recognised form of competitive fighting.Records of boxing are dated back to the Sumer era of the 3rd millennium BC and the Egyptian era of the 2nd millennium BC making it the oldest sport in recorded history, subsequently fighting with fists the most natural form of combat to man.

Boxing was not formalised as a sport until it appeared in the Ancient Olympic games of Greece in 688BC and carried the name Pygme or Pygmachia. Participants prepared for contests by striking punching bags called korykos. Fighters wore leather straps over their hands and wrists. continue
 
     
     
  History of Muay Thai  
     
  Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is a combat sport with origins set deep in the history of Thailand. Muay (boxing in Thai language) Thai is pronounced Thai Muay by native Thais. Muay Thai is a brutal and athletically demanding combat sport, with participants utilising fists, elbows, knees and legs as striking weapons to the opponent. Muay Thai is practiced extensively in Thailand, with international participation significantly growing over the past decade.

Muay Thai has a historical value which is appreciated by those who practice the sport. This history which forms the culture of Muay Thai has been developed over centuries of military and kingdom battle, religious influence, cultural meaning, social development and government support. continue
 
     
     
  History of MMA  
     
  The term MMA is delivered from Mixed Martial Arts, a unique combat sport which brings together all forms of combat to create an individual sport of its own. Primary styles which are used in MMA include boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing, wrestling, Brazilian ju-jitsu, judo and karate.

It appears that a form of MMA named pankration was a combat sport in the ancient Greek period. Ancient Greek pankratiasts were worshiped hero warriors including the legends of Arrichion, Dioxxipus, Polydamos and Hercules. continue
